Winding down and winding up

Well, things are well and truly winding down on Motorati Island, a couple of builders have left already and there has been some tension elsewhere too, which wasn't necessary, big or clever.

Still, plans for the new home are progressing nicely and I'm speaking to Patty from AskPatty.com on Friday to get the final plans. We've been emailing and she likes the proposals I've put forward...

On a much brighter note, I've been out Christmas shopping for Sadie and bought her something lovely. I'm not going to say what it is just in case she reads this here, but it IS gorgeous (just like her) and she'll love it. It was worth every L$ :D

Photogenica

Well, this is a pretty photo heavy entry today, because I wanted to share a couple of things with you all..

Firstly, yesterday was the 1st anniversary of the day that Sadie and I met, all those months ago at the Isle of Lesbos. We went back there to relive the memories and as they were having a 'Back to School' event, we both donned school uniforms and danced for a couple of hours... I thought you might like to see my take on a Japanese schoolgirl look... :D

Secondly, the lovely Veyron bought me a rezday pressie from Chrissa Korvin's 'Devil Made Me Do It' shop. Now, if you've seen Veyron in some of her pix, you'll have seen Charissa's amazing handiwork on display... So, I thought I'd try the outfit on and take some pix for the blog... Once again, I used the basketball courts down in the underworld at Suffugium for the backdrop.

There are more of them on my Flickr page and if you like these, I suggest you check them out as they're just as good...

When one door closes...

...another one opens up.

It's the end of an era. Yesterday, an announcement was made via email that Motorati Island would be closing it's doors on December 31st. Pontiac are withdrawing their interests in SL and therefore that means that the 7 sim complex is vanishing forever. We've decided to go out with a bang, not a whimper and there will be a cruise, street racing, oval racing and a massive party coming up in the next few weeks, before we all take our builds down and say goodbye to the place forever.

Personally, I'm going to miss the place. I started my SL DJ career there, drove my first car there, built a club and car workshop there as well as took on a role to help out the community that operated there, giving something back. It was fun.

However, plans are already being drawn up for a new car culture community, to include Parkade and Underground Resistance, as well as other Motorati Island refugees. Watch this space for more information.

Keeping up the happiness, it's also time for this month's BootieSL party, happening at Parkade tonight (for the last time in this location). As usual, I'll be spinning at the Mash n' Grab session from 7-9pm PST and then we'll link up live with the DMA Lounge in San Francisco for the BootieSL event, from 9pm PST...

See you there!!!

I am One!!!

It's my rezday!!! A year ago today I logged into SL for the first time, eager to see Long Range perform a live gig in the metaverse. The gig was cancelled unfortunately, but I stayed to see what all the fuss is about. ...and here I still am, with no plans to leave whatsoever.

In that time I've met someone very special indeed, married her and am still as in love now as I was then. Sadie is my other half, there can be no other. I've become a successful SL DJ, club owner, designer, fabricator, socialite and minor SLebrity and thats just in a year... Who knows what'll be next?!

I'm going to celebrate later at Parkade by spinning in my normal slot, 4-6pm PST and I am now sitting here picking some absolutely CORKING tunes to play out. Some seriously mentalist music :D

See you there!!!

I has been tagged

Well, Looker has tagged me for the '8 Random Facts' challenge, so here goes:

Here are the rules:
(1) Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
(2) People who are tagged need to write a post on their own blog (about their eight things) and post these rules.
(3) At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
(4) Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

8 Random Facts about ME!!

1: I really am as mental about cars in RL as I am in SL. Seriously, I am a rare breed of girly petrolhead. I know a couple of others, but we're rare...

2: I have a seriously huge record collection. It's an obsession. It's like a small branch of HMV in my flat. Roughly 2000 CDs, 1000 12"/10"/7" vinyl records, a few tapes and about 160GB of MP3 files...

3: Amanda really is my name, I just find it less confusing to use more than one name when flicking between existences.

4: I came out as a lesbian when I was 15 years old.

5: I think I'm allergic to heels. Well, in RL anyway. I'm much happier in trainers or bare feet. I own heels, just don't wear them often.

6: I love my graphic design and have soft spots for The Designers Republic, Airside and ME Company. Some of this comes through in my designs in SL.

7: I'm a RL redhead, but I am NOT ginger!!! It's naturally dark red, enhanced with chemicals to make it deeper.

8: I went to University to study Engineering, but dropped out and went to work for the Civil Service, wrangling politicians etc. I now work as a PA.

Okies, tagging others, I don't know who to pick that hasn't already been hit or would actually fill this in, but I select Diva, Kitty, Julia, Duckyfresh and Dandellion. I know thats only 5, but I don't know anyone else who'd do it and the others from my flist I'd pick have already been tagged... Damn you!!! Damn you all to hell!!!

:D

Nekos, Guns, Stuff...

Wow, imaginative title eh?

Firstly, I've been experimenting with another look. It's something Sadie tried and liked so I tried it (and liked it) too. Now and again, when we're in the mood, you may just spot us... In Neko mode. I've stuck a couple of photos below, just so you can see. Personally, I think it looks good, but it's not destined to overtake the normal blonde me, so don't panic...

I also experimented earlier in the week with taking some shots that I was going to enter for the latest exhibition at The Cannery, but I decided that they were crap and didn't bother. I was going for the 'Different Angle' approach, but I don't think I was up to the task... See for yourself...

In other news, whilst dancing with Sadie tonight, we realised that thanks to the US system of writing dates, we'd missed her Rezday, which happened back on November 12th... :( Still, got mine to look forward to on December 6th and yes, just 4 days later, Sadie and I celebrate one year of meeting and our first date... Romance in SL CAN last ;)

Those were taken just a few days ago and we're still very much in love. I don't care what people say about romance, love etc. in SL, it can feel very real and it does for us. And it'll continue feeling real for a very long time to come!

Start your engines...

After watching the US series 'Race Car Driver' (wow, imaginative title) on a UK free channel, I decided that I'd build something like a CART racer in SL. So I've started. It's looking pretty good at the moment and just needs a few prim attachment finishing pieces and it's good to go.

I know I've got other projects that in theory should be ahead of it, but I was flapping around inworld and bored, so I decided to just build...

The magazine project is on hold for the moment, I'm waiting to get a decision on land and that won't come until 2008, so I've spoken to the 'investor' and he's cool with that.

I'll crack on with the Funny Car, CitiCar and NASCAR projects after I've built the CART racer, which even if I say so myself, does look good...

It's all gone a bit Pete Tong...

This is officially brilliant!!!

See through my eyes

Hehe, I have just installed a Vod:Pod sidebar here. It's brilliant. I've managed to stuff it with Orbital and Hexstatic videos, so you've got some good things to watch. I particularyly recommend 'Bass Invader' and 'Newton's Cradle' by Hexstatic. They're superb, but then I wouldn't choose any old rubbish for you to watch, would I? ;)

In other news, I'm still amazed at how many people were at BootieSL last night. It was brilliant fun and I'm just disappointed that I had to bail at what was 7.15am my time. Still, I enjoyed it and I owe the newly appointed 'BootieSL Angel' Diva a HUGE hug!!! Thanks babes!! xXx

She's Alive!!!

Yeah, I'm not dead... I've been taking some time out from projects to make sure that I spend more time with Sadie, but I'm still working on stuff in the background too.

I'm designing a whole range of fun n' funky 'skins' for the Pontiac Solstice that'll be sold through my Underground Resistance workshop, as well as sorting a few things out for the car magazine too, although I'm still trying to secure some land for an office for the place... We need to house printing presses n' stuff like that.

Tonight also sees the welcome return of BootieSL to Parkade, so I'll be at the club from 7pm PST, cranking out the mashups n' stuff and then staying on for Bootie, for as long as I can stay awake (it does start at 5am UK time). I think we'll have a record crowd this month, if Diva has anything to do with it ;)

Lastly, I decided that I'd change the look of this thing a little, so it has a fresher appearance. My trademark pink is still there, but now it's not so 'in your face', unlike meeee!!!

Hello Mum!!!

Been on the telly again!!! ;)

Parkade and myself were featured again on the Thursday edition of SLCN.tv's "That S'Life", hosted by none other than Duckyfresh...

Lets hope a few more people visit the place now, despite the massive SL problems totally eating all 5 notices I sent out tonight... Grrrr!!!

Decisions Decisions...

Oh dear...

I have a bit of a tough choice. Looker's just sent me the photos from the shoot we did in my workshop and they're a bit tasty. No, scratch that... They're amazing!!!

Only trouble is, I now have to pick a couple to shortlist, so that I can send them to Korbin for the OMG Calendar. This is not going to be an easy task... I'll pop the enhanced Dark Eden ones up seeing as I can't enter those for the competition, but they look stunning, so I'll show 'em all to you anyway... I can't thank Veyron enough for the recommendation!!!

See what you think ;)

Picture the scene...

Yaaay, managed to get the photoshoots done today as Looker had some spare time. Wow, the photos he took for the Dark Eden 'Girl of the Month' competition were stunning. I've made my choice and 'might' stick it up here, I'll definitely put some of the others up later...

I'll also post the photos I took when we were doing the OMG Calendar shoot set. I chose Eleanor again as that Mustang really IS the best looking car I've seen in SL ever. Well, until something else gets built by the same person.

I'll post 'em later when I've converted 'em and I'll bung 'em on Flickr too...

CSI: Observations

So, I managed to acquire a copy of the much hailed 'CSI:NY' episode that aired in the 'States on October 24th, co coincide with the launch of the massive CBS/Electric Sheep 'CSI:SL' project...

Firstly, being a 'CSI' fan but never having seen the Miami or New York variants, I was surprised at the layout, look and feel of the show being so different to that of the original. However, this is not important. How they portrayed SL is interesting though.

As usual for any dramatisation, PC software doesn't actually look like real stuff, probably due to copyright issues etc. So, the portrayal of SL didn't look like that of the system we know and moan about. There were some elements of the proper signup pages etc. in there, but lots of stuff missing, obviously as all the inworld sequences weren't realtime, they were machinma playback... Never having used voice, I can't say if the little green bars were accurate BUT, I am appaled at the way SL was portrayed. They never crashed once, there was NO lag, nothing failed to rez, they never lost anything from their inventory, there were no missing images, grey textures, missing prims, Ruthing or anything!!! Pfft, accurate? ;)

Mind you, nice to see that us SecondLifers came out of it with our Nerdship and Geekdom intact :D

Oh and massive respect n' stuff for the Suffugium sim for getting 4 seconds of exposure in the aired episode during the chase sequence...

Gone in 60 Seconds...

Uh oh... I couldn't resist her charms. She sang to me, like the Sirens who used to lure sailors to their doom on the rocks. She waved her wand and put me under her spell... Eleanor has sucked me in!!

Whilst I love modern, sleek, stylish and hyper tuned Japanese imports etc. I have a very large soft spot for classic American muscle cars, none more so than the Mustang. I have a Dominus Shadow, plus 2 of the Midnight Drift modern 'Stangs, but this is the mother of all ponies. I know there is another modern Mustang in development, but this is the absolute pinnacle of all things big blue oval in SL... This is simply stunning!!

I really can't begin to describe how sexy this car is, so I'm just going to post a couple of pictures and let you judge for yourselves. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the 1967 Mustang GT500... Eleanor <3

Oh well...

Looks as if 2 of the items from my 'To Do' list can be rubbed off... Just had some news concerning the Pontiac G6 and it looks as if it's been scrapped for SL, so that means the Pro Stock version and the Road Rally promo work I was going to do won't be happening...

Pity really, I was looking forward to that :(

*Edit* Having just said that, I've just had an interesting conversation that may mean things don't quite die... My fingers are crossed ;)

Busy Bee...

Blimeh, I've been thinking of all the projects that I've either got on the go or coming up and I think I've just scared myself...

Ultimate Drift Spec Pontiac Solstice GXP (graphics, sounds & scripting)
Pro Stock Pontiac G6
Pontiac G8 Funny Car
Lamanda Scooter (Anims and attachments left to make)
Underground Resistance Rat Rod
AP001 CitiCar
RPM Magazine Office location/build
RPM Magazine interviews/launch
Pontiac promo work
Dark Eden photoshoot
OMG 2008 Calendar photoshoot

Couple this to the fact that I run a club, DJ at least twice a week AND I my highest priority is Sadie and this makes me a busy bee... I really need to start cracking on with some of these projects and get them out of the way. The Drift Spec Solstice doesn't need to be finished until December 15th and thats just a case of finishing the graphics, making a couple more prim bits to add on, recording the sounds from a video game and editing them to fit and then tweaking the script, finally adjusting the addons so that they sit right when I'm driving... So, not much to do then and thats just ONE project.

Some of the above list will take a lot less time than the others and some can't even be started until others have done their work, plus things like the photoshoots won't take long at all... In fact, I'm doing the photoshoots on Thursday so thats two items off the list pretty soon.

I was going to say that I needed a holiday, but thats wrong... What I actually need is to spend some quality time with Sadie, that'll make me feel SO much better!!!

Celebrity Lookeylikey Thing...

Okies, so Naomi Watts was ubercool as she's definitely one of my celeb crushes, but I was disappointed at no Radha Mitchell... :(

See what you think... Lucille Ball? Are they quite sure?

I hate Photoshop and it hates me. All I want to do is make a nice, shiny 3D Mac style round button like the tutorial, but will it let me? Will it f...!!!

So, There I was...

I'm now going to explain how I just managed to spend L$2500 on a new bike. Trust me, it's a beauty :D

The other night, I was indulging in some retail therapy over at 'Diversity Hair/Digit Darkes' and spotted a few, shorter styles. Usually being a girl with long hair, I thought it'd be cool to have a few shorter styles, as you never know when you'll need them. I purchased a couple and went about my evening. Later that night, I tried them all and wasn't overly impressed with a couple of them, but I must've been tired or something because today when I tried one on again, all I could say was "Wow!!".

This was the "Wow!!" moment. See what I mean? ;)

Anyway, to celebrate the fact that I am a drop dead gorgeous girl who can now also pull off stunning short hair (look, if I don't say this stuff, no one else will), I decided to go for a spin around Motorati Island on my lovely Ducati 999 clone, which naturally is hot pink ;) Anyway, there I was, zooming around on this when I almost literally bumped into another biker, although his ride was a lot more in the vein of the chopper and being a fan of bike companies like West Coast Choppers, Exile Cycles and Jesse Rooke, I stopped to take a closer look.

We started talking about bikes, I openly expressed my admiration for his ride and then dug deeper into his bike to get the manufacturer and before he could even tell me that he couldn't remember where he'd bought it, I was staring at the maker's 'Picks' and had found the shop. I politely made my excuses and 'ported over to buy this baby. She didn't start off pink, but with all the customisable options, thats how she ended up. I was going to build my own custom bike in SL, but I think I'll put those plans on hold for the moment as I'm having too much run riding around on this :D

So, be aware that having short hair can cause impulse buying. Not that I need a flimsy excuse like that to impulse buy ;)

I'm Spinning Around....

Yup, it's Thursday, so I'm going into shameless self-promoting mode to let you all know that I'm DJing at Parkade tonight. It's the usual 4-6pm slot, probably overrun and theres no set theme tonight, so expect anything and everything as I feel like a bit of a rummage through the new stuff I've been getting and as I've been getting lots of different stuff, I thought I'd treat you all to a mixed (record) bag.

If Music Is the Food of Love...

...Get Stuffed!!!. This is just a 'lil hour or so Trance mix that I did at the Purgatory club the other night as part of a guest mix slot for Angi Fargis. It's pretty euphoric so if you like your trance, you'll probably like this.

On the subject of mixes etc., I crashed out of the 'Battle of the DJs' competiton being held in SL on Sunday night. I made it as far as the semi finals, but I was drawn up against the 'hot favourite'. Now, not one to get embroiled in speculation etc. but the 'hot favourite' has actually been tipped to win this competition since it's start waaay back in June. It's been pointed out to me by several leading figures in the SL DJing community that this DJ battle has been rigged from the start and that the 'hot favourite' is destined to win, no matter who he faces in competition and how good they are. Several people have argued with the competition organiser about this and other elements of his organisational skills (or lack thereof) and have had the decisions against them reversed, i.e. they suddenly lost, despite being claimed as winners of rounds etc. Some merely walked out of the competition altogether. The reputation of the organiser (who has had at least one account terminated by LL) is now in shreds within the respectable side of the SL DJ community, of which I'm glad to say I fall in to (apparently I'm very well respected, which is nice). I also have my doubts about the actual validity of the 'hot favourite' and his live mixing skills and I'm convinced that he actually premixed his sets for a German online radio station and then just played them in the competition. They had Dj idents at regular intervals, were completely flawless (suggesting that he was using something like Ableton Live, to construct the sets) and when he faded the last track out halfway through, that was a dead givaway. Good luck to him and the organiser, they'll need it. I'm sure they're splitting the prize money too ;)

I've been accused of being a bad loser and being bitter about this when I voiced my opinions to the organiser, which simply isn't true. I don't mind being beaten, I just prefer it when the playing field is level, even and we're all given the same chance.

Sorry for the rant, anyway, enjoy the music ;)

Say Cheese!!!

Okies, I promised some photos and here they are...

The 'Drift Queen' at her workshop (Underground Resistance, Ride)

Me and my luvverly pink Madza RX-7 (Mmmmm, sexiest car in existence)

My Lamborghini Gallardo (Stick yer Ferraris)

Mercedes S-Class (Because every girl should travel in style sometimes)

My Supra (Fast AND Furious baby, Yeah!!!)

Taking a break from decorating the old beach house...

The campsite at 'SecondFest' earlier this year (not a noob in site!!)

Soaking up the rays and atmosphere at SecondFest 2007 (note, lack of wellies = not a real festival)

My entry for the Dark Eden 'Girl of the Month' in October (next time, I'm taking pics with the guns too...)

I've been meaning to post some of those for ages and have more from SecondFest that might make it onto these pages at some point... I also have a LOT more cars than that, but couldn't be bothered to snap 'em all at the moment... I don't think my CyberAngel look will be enough to get me into October's Dark Eden competition, but we'll see... It's a look I like and it'd make a superb RPG outfit, especially with the firearms holstered to the thighs... Hmmm, definitely another photoshoot coming up and I might ask one of Veyron's friends to go all Photoshop on it afterwards...

Bad Amanda, Bad!!!

I can't help it!!! I see a car I like and I buy it!!! Well, to be accurate, 2 cars.

I made the mistake of going to the MotorCity sim and saw a couple of sculptie cars that actually looked half decent. So, the glitzy, glam, showbiz celeb type girl in me bought a smart looking Mercedes Benz S Class copy, which is very nice indeed, trés opulent etc. and the racer, glam, flashy DJ babe in me bought a pink Lamborghini Gallardo clone... I'm terrible!!!

I think tomorrow will be a monster pic posting session...

P is for...

Pownce!!! Thanks to the lovely Veyron, I'm now on Pownce too, although I'm too stoopid to work out how to link it from here as a feed at the moment... I've sent a couple of friend requests to Vint n' Zoe (so if you're reading this girls, you know who it is) and I have some invites if anyone out there wants them? Just leave a comment if ya do.

Pontiac projects are up in the air again due to texture issues with the original item, so thumbs are engaged back into 'twiddle' mode at the moment.

At least the jetlag has gone anyway and I'm back in my usual nocturnal mode ;)

I *think* it's the semi-final round of the Battle of the DJs this Sunday, although the competiton has no real relevance any more as it's turned into a total and utter farce. By rights, I should pull out as I've been told enough incriminating stuff about it to make me realise that it's all rigged and that I don't stand a snowball in hells chance of winning, although I've also been told that I really ought to win as I'm apparently a shit hot DJ too... I did a special guest mix at the Purgatory club last night, which I recorded, so I'll be putting a link to that for download soon-ish.

Anyway, not much else happening around these parts... I'm not sure how much of a blow the VAT issue is going to be for Sadie buying the sim, we'll have to do some more investigation and whatnot. Grrrr @ LL etc. :(

Oh and if anyone out there knows how to add the Pownce stuff on Blogger, please let me know... Webby things never were my strong point.

Normal Service Will Resume Shortly...

Apologies for the hooj delays in updating this thing, but last week I wound up jumping on a plane and heading to Sin City for a long weekend and I'm still recovering from landing yesterday... It's true, Vegas is open 25 hours a day :o

Anyway, once I'm back in the swing of all things SL, I'm sure I'll be updating more. DJing tonight, hopefully some cool promo stuff happening soon with Pontiac (I've been banging on about it for weeks now) and also the possibility to get all Sheepish too, but we'll see...

Oh and I'm on Spock too, usual name applies, so if you are too, add me etc. :D

Fiddy in da Hizzle!!!

Well, the 50 Cent event at the Pontiac Garage wasn't as rammed as I thought it might be, but it was still a bit of a giggle. The concert itself was OK-ish, music isn't my kinda thing, plus the backing was way too low in the mix and the rapping way too high. Still, it was free ;)

The live Q&A session after was very interesting though. I love the way a 50 Cent avatar was sat on stage, looking very lifelike, but the real article was on the phone ;) Still, there were some very good questions asked and it was interesting stuff.

I had a small afterparty back at Parkade, where I managed to stay on the decks for nearly 3 hours... TheDiva and Lostmedia, you're troopers!!!

It's not gone 8am and I'm at DJNoNo's place later for a CSS lesson.

I'm frazzled!!!

Show the DJ some love...

Well, last night saw me in round 2 of the Battle of the DJs, where I took to the decks to deliver a 45 minute hard dance set... And won! Looks like I might be up against Angi Fargis in the semi finals and as she's a pro DJ in RL, I'm possibly stuffed. Hehe, I only entered the competition as a bit of fun and never expected to get this far anyway.

Things in the design world have been fun too. I'm still labouring on with my own 'baby', the Drift Solstice, plus am making one for Bannock Ogg's 'Renegade Radio', as well as something pretty 'steamy' for the Motorati building competition... Plus, the lovely Vint is helping me with a design for another 'Secret Squirrel' project too. She's a star :D

Hehe, I also found time to create a couple of tees too, I might post piccies later ;)

Ooh and it's the exclusive 50 Cent bash at Motorati tonight. Not a huge fan, but I'll be checking it out anyway ;)

They say moving...

...is the most stressful thing you can do. As someone who has moved from parents, to flat with partner, to house with partner to her own flat, all in RL, I can say that yes, moving IS stressful. It's also stressful in SL too. Today, Sadie and I said our goodbyes to our 33,000Sq M worth of parcels on our sim and sold the lot, back to ACS for a hefty cut in price, but it's out of our hands and thats it, done. We've rented a small beach hut somewhere until Sadie orders the sim. The sim that I shall mould into paradise. We were both sad to leave Sardonyx, after all, we were married there and have had many good times there too.

However, the future looms and along with it, business plans too ;)

Also speaking of the future, I've just had a glimpse of something rather lovely. I was privileged to see something that i shouldn't have been allowed to see. I won't say what it is, but it's something that I too will be getting to work with a LOT very soon indeed. It's lovely :D

Right, I'm DJing in less than half an hour, so I 'spose I'd better get ready etc. Oh, the life of a superstar is SO hard these days ;)

Three down...

...Two to go! I can't believe I've done it again, DJing on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and still have today and tomorrow to go. Thursday was my normal stint at Parkade, Friday was the United Spinal 'Rave for a Cause', which wasn't at all successful. 3 people showed, donated a total of about L$2500, so I put in L$2500 of my own cash to bolster the funds... The access system to the parcel didn't work again and then about 90 minutes into the 3 hour set, the flagging stream servers finally turned their toes up and died on me :( Game over!

Last night (Saturday) saw the SLCC Leather & Lace party at Underwater Love on Motorati Island. Pontiac were in the top 3 locations for the Big 8 streaming sites for SLCC, so we expected the party to be massive, which it wasn't. We all had a fun time, but I had to bail at just gone 11pm, an hour before it finished as that translated to 7am UK time and with me only getting 4 hours sleep the night before, I needed to recharge. I did however draw in the first competition and win the second outright for the best lace outfit, which was nice. Thats L$970 heading to United Spinal, so I'll round it up to a grand and pop that in the collection point outside Parkade later.

Today sees me taking it easy with the ambient slot at Parkade and tomorrow I'll kick out some trance over at Suffugium.

No Skirt Required...

Hehe, remember the Maxim party? Well, SL was playing up that night (yeah, I know that narrows it down a LOT) and I wore a lovely prim skirt, black with pink flames on. Very short, very sexy, very me (pink/black/white are my signature colours).

Anyway, it seems that I was the only person at the party who could see the damn thing. Luckily I was wearing a G string, so not everything was on show and it made for a great cover photo on issue 35 of The AvaStar plus an even better picture on page 14. Hehe, as Oscar Wilde said "There is no bad publicity", which is true.

The AvaStar also interviewed me today, partly as a promo piece for the United Spinal Association fundraiser rave at Parkade on Friday and partly about my take on the state of the live music/club scene in SL... I hope they publish all of the interview, it'll be an interesting piece.

Saturday also sees the SLCC parties kicking off around the grid and the place to be will seen is Underwater Love on the Motorati sim, part of Motorati Island. A few of us 'Islanders' are getting together to host one of the 8 main SLCC parties on the grid, so it should be a BIG bash and one to look forward to. Both Sadie and I have been snapping up some gorgeous lace outfits for the night, so we should both turn a few heads. I've also designed the official SLCC Pontiac Solstice GXP and made some little RC models and a tshirt for the night too...

I'm also DJing at Parkade on Sunday, but thats going to be a chilled out set. I'll need it to be after Saturday :D

Raves, Parties, Gigs, Stuff...

Well, weeks of planning crashed spectacularly on Friday night when the 'Rave for a Cause' totally failed. I don't know if it was SL killing the access to Parkade, the L$300 entry (all money going to charity) or general lack of interest, but no one came, so I pulled the plug and am going to try again on the 24th August. Wish me luck!

I also DJed at the Pontiac/Maxim party which was OK. Unfortunately, I had sound issues and the sim crashed at the end of my set, so I wasn't entirely happy with my performance. I feel like I let a lot of people down :(

Having said that, I've got a new DJ residency at Suffugium on Mondays, 6-8pm PDT although that *might* change soon, depending on how much it wipes me out time-wise. Suffugium is a gorgeously detailed and well built sim. You should check it out... I'll be DJing in the old basketball court, down in the underworld slums.

As for the 'Stuff' as mentioned in the title of this episode, I'm still banging my head against a virtual brick wall getting a working elevator for the Autopia project, but I got another commission from Pontiac and designed the Maxim Edition of the Pontiac Solstice GXP, which is currently parked outside Callie Cline's Beach Resort and will probably find it's way into the Design Park outside the Pontiac Dealership too. That'll take the number of cars I've got on display there into double figures...

I'm still waiting for the G6 to be finished, firstly so we can do the 2 week publicity campaign for it and secondly so I can pull it apart and do things with it. Hopefully it shouldn't be too long now.

SL has recently been really screwey, causing no end of problems. Sims that appear to be online but aren't there when you reach the border (strange, I can TP into them!), people not showing as online until they IM you, wondering why you've not IMmed them etc. I've also sent an IM to the head man, Philip Linden (for all the good it'll do) asking for us to be able to have more groups... 25 just isn't enough and I'm forever having to drop some to be added to more, which are necessities. Trouble is, the others were sort of necessities too! It's infuriating. Anyway, we'll see if my going straight to the top will have any effect. I doubt it, but nothing ventured etc.

Still here...

Just to say that I'm not dead yet, still alive n' stuff but have been away in the Real World for a few days. Back now, crispier than I wanted to be, redder than I'd like to be and with a lot more pain than necessary.

Normal madness will resume soon. FACT!

Look mum, I'm on the telly!!! (again!!!)

OMG, I'm in the new Pontiac G5 TV commercial!!! It's an 'old' me, but I'm the girl with the tats dancing at Parkade in the club shot, closest to the camera...

COOL!!!

I'll be signing autographs later :D

For a cause...

Some of you may have seen this, some may not. It's very deep, moving and has spurred me on to make the charity event I'm organising on August 10th at Parkade even more of a success...

Lets Rave for a Cause!!!

Let the relaxation cease!

Well, just when projects and appointments were winding down, it looks like things are about to get busy again... I've just had another build authorised by Motorati, so I'm going to be putting my third build down on the Island soon, this time it's on the Motorati sim itself, in the shape of 'Autopia', a modern, industrial tower complex with micro-apartments for weekly rent, so a resident can drive in, take the lift (elevator) to their chosen floor and then drive out, INTO their apartment :D Build work is already 90% done and I should be getting the land soon, prepping it and then getting ready to start dropping the building very soon indeed...

Other things that have happened? Well, earlier in the week I was asked to do a couple of modelling shoots for Maxim magazine, which was all very fun and exciting. It's nice to be asked to do these things, especially when I know there are prettier girls out there. I'm going to have to ask someone in America to post me a couple of copies of the magazine when it's released :D Call me vain, I don't care. This sort of thing doesn't happen to me often! On the subject of Maxim, I'm also going to be DJing at a Maxim party in SL next month. More info on that when it's announced. I'm also producing something else for Maxim, but can't start that until I get my hands on some stuff from them ;)

On the subject of Motorati Island, I've been drafted in to help out around there, tackling griefers, clearing the junk etc. and just helping to keep an eye on the place. I spend a lot of my time there anyway, so these added responsibilities are no extra burden at all.

My quest to collect more virtual junk continued this week too, when I added the 'Barricade' avatar to my collection from the Transformers 'Sector 7' sim and then I also raided the 'Silverscreen' sim where they've got a Die Hard 4.0 theme at the moment. Loads of freebies and some VERY cleverly built dioramas too. Notes have been taken :D

Finally (draws breath), I'm DJing with Jungle Vacano this Sunday, so it looks as if I'm going up in the world too, gig wise :D

..and Relax!

Wow, these past few weeks have been busy busy and although I'm not stopping with projects, I AM winding down to some well earned R&R at the end of the month, when I'm away for 2 long weekends with nothing but some fields, tents, friends and a few thousand music festivalgoers to keep me company :D I'm going to miss my friends in SL and I'll especially miss Sadie but 2 long weekends camping at festivals will be a giggle :D I'm really looking forward to it. I don't think I'll be able to afford the trip to Las Vegas later this year though :(

In SL news, the Aquatica Solstice has been handed over and I just need to make a drivable version now, which shouldn't take too long to do actually... I'm working on my Ultimate Drift Spec Solstice and all the prim work for that is pretty much complete, I just need to do some work in Photoshop now for the finishing touches.

I've also gone into partnership with a friend of mine, designing houses, apartment blocks, shopping malls etc. I'm currently working on a possible project for Motorati Island and am adapting a design that I'm working on for private sale, so if anyone out there is looking for a bespoke house or mall, let me know.

I've also spent a little more time in front of the camera lens too as I've been snapped a few times for a forthcoming article in Maxim magazine too. I'm really excited about that and will have to get a couple of copies sent over from America if I'm in it :D All this modelling stuff, it's so cool. I could get used to it, if only someone out there was looking for someone like me for more modelling...

Finally, I'm also through to the second round of a Battle of the DJs competition, which is pretty good. I think I'm taking part in round two this weekend. Should be interesting to see what happens and who I'm up against. I have a friend in the competition too and would hate to come up against him so early. Me and him in the final? I could live with that ;)

It's been a while...

Yeah, I know I've not updated this for about a week and I very much doubt that anyone out there is reading this but... If you are then at least let me know ;)

So, busy week!!! Lots of prim wrangling with yet another project undertaken for Pontiac, this time in the shape of a somewhat wacky Solstice GXP conversion for the Aquatica park. It'll be on display there and at the dealership soon. It's getting a little embarrassing down at the dealership, with 8 of the cars on display there being ones I've designed! Speaking of which, my Pro Stock Solstice GXP Dragster will be down there soon too probably. Thats pretty much finished and work is now about to start on my Ultimate Drift Spec Solstice.

I've also been working more with Patty and Breanne from AskPatty.com and have constructed the mobile show stand for them, so they can drop it at events, give out info on their services and it has a cool little R/C car track for the radio control Solstices I've made :D

Sadie has plans to abandon our lovely home on Sardonyx and take up residency on our own sim. It's ambitious but she's determined and I'm not going to stop her... It does mean I'll be uber busy making mountains and waterfalls though :D

Lastly, I'm going to be doing some cool promotion work with Pontiac for the launch of the new G6 model inworld. More details will appear on the MotoratiLife page when it's all been finalised, but it will probably last for a couple of weeks and should be a good laugh... I'm really looking forward to the challenge.

Red Laser Beam

Wow... I don't often talk about RL in here but Thursday night seeing Hexstatic was amazing. Loads of new material from their forthcoming album 'When Robots Go Bad'. Really cool night AND I get to see them twice in the same week as they're playing SecondFest tonight at 10pm UK time, followed straight away by Coldcut!!!

I'm currently keeping a photo log of my adventures at SecondFest, which I'll post up when it's all finished. I was there with Socks this afternoon and we were wandering around seeing what we could see... It was pretty cool. I'm hoping Sadie will be able to make a couple of sets with me tonight before I have to zoom over to Parkade for a 2 hour trance set, which also sees the start of 'Headspace week' which sees us playing host to the clubbing culture documentary 'Headspace'. It's showing whenever you want to see it, for one week only :D Be sure to catch it!

I've also just finished designing the car for the United Spinal Association charity event being run by AskPatty.com on August 4th. It's a simple yet challenging and thought provoking design. You can get more information on things over at the Motorati website...

Does it come in any other colours?

Well, bit of an exciting week!!! Firstly, the Pontiac Solstice Baja GXP has been approved for sale, which is brilliant news. As usual, all profits will head to charity, which is a bonus!! I'm still waiting to hear about the Drift Spec car too. I just need to find some decent beach buggy sounds now :D

Work on our paradise is progressing as Sadie and I have dropped a new and lovely beach house onto the land. We're thinking of upgrading to a whole sim, not too sure at the moment, but it's a bit step, especially for a personal home :D Still, it's what we're looking at and it would be nice to have the extra security of knowing it's OUR land.

In other news, I've shifted my DJ slot at Parkade back to Saturday this week as I'm going to be ligging and blagging at an album launch party for a UK band called Hexstatic, which is going to be coolies!!! I can't wait for that! Plus, the interview about Parkade should be appearing in June's issue of OMG magazine too!!

Oh and I think I've found a scripter to work with me in the future. It's the age old story of going to vote for a friend's (winning) float in the SecondPride festivities on The L Word sims, being introduced to someone who's looking for a full time pub manageress, turning the offer down but finding out she's a scripter who wants to work with a builder. Classic!

A call to arms...

I have no idea if anyone out there is reading this, but if you are and you can script in SL, please get in touch with me... I'm looking for someone who wants to work with me, me as designer/builder, you obviously as scripter. It's mainly to work on some high prim Japanese modified import cars and also some futuristic bikes and it'll be a while before I'm ready to rock, but any help would be appreciated...

In other news, Callie has said she'll make me my own 'signature colour' Motorati Girlz top, just for me!!! I'm really excited, I've never had any exclusive clothing before... I've paid to get an exclusive outfit for Sadie, but I've never had anything like this myself :D

Look mum, I'm on the telly!!!

Yup, imagine my surprise tonight when I was walking up to the front door of Parkade when I was approached by Starr Sonic from SLCN.tv and was told that she was filming there and when told her I owned the place, she asked me if I knew where Miss Cyberpink was... So I enlightened her...

Anyway, Parkade is on the latest episode of That S'Life and is permanently archived if you want to watch it. I'm more than a little happy with what is basically free publicity. Granted, she said I owned the sim when I don't, but hey, it's a small mistake.

Underground Resistance opens this weekend and I'm celebrating with our neighbours at Nekone D by organising a Drift-Off and Street Racing between 4 and 7pm PDT, then we're all heading over to Parkade for the afterparty until about 9pm, when I intend to fall over as it'll be about 5am here in England...

Build wise, Underground Resistance is still ongoing, but it's only textures and fittings to sort out. Vehicle build wise, the Baja GXP is now totally finished and I just need to produce a few more colours. I'm hoping Motorati and Pontiac will allow me to sell them too, which would be nice. I'm also developing a Drift Spec Solstice GXP and my own pink Solstice is still evolving. I am going to make it the hottest Solstice in SL. It should look pretty special by the time I've finished it... I'll post pics of lots of things after the weekend!!!

Designing, Modelling, DJing...

Oh it's such a glamourous world... If it's not designing stuff in Photoshop for Callie and Pontiac then it's splaying myself across the bonnet (hood to the Americans) of a Pontiac Solstice GXP for a Motorati photoshoot...

Topping off today, I'll be DJing at Parkade too!

I got the 2 Callie cars finished, submitted and approved which is nice. I'm working on an official Solstice for the 'Parkade' club and maybe for yet another Motorati Island build... It's teaching me a lot about Photoshop, which is helpful as I need as much time on that as I can... Speaking of the Solstice, I'm also working on my own showcase build using Solstice components, which should be a big hit with the powers that be. Fingers crossed :D

Photos from the shoot n' stuff to follow, when I get them :D

Sunday, June 10, 2007

That was the week that was...

Progress!!! I made progress! The Motorati Girlz Pontiac Solstice GXP has been admitted and approved, Callie's pink Solstice is close to completion and I've got one of the Solstice GXP bodykits completed and on sale, with a second close to completion... I'm hoping that the promise of real payment for the Solstice commissions will happen... I was told by Motorati agents that Pontiac would pay me so I'm waiting now :D

However, I've also started a new Solstice project, because I'm mad and also because I'm waiting for my friend Tim to texture one and also to do some internal textures for Underground Resistance too.

In other news, the BootieSL website is finally active, which is a cross promotion for Bootie itself and Parkade, where BootieSL is held every month. It's going on now and I was the support DJ for it, but it's 6.40am in the UK now and I need sleep.

Oh and I know she's probably not reading this, but I think it was unfair of Callie to mention those new boots in her blog, knowing that I'd NEED a pair :D It's a good job I'm a top flite DJ who earns some decent cash.

Speaking of which, I'm DJing at a beach party tomorrow too... It never stops :D

Oh and i nearly forgot. Apparently, Motorati want me to do a photoshoot for them, plus I'm doing an interview with AvaStar magazine on Monday. Also trying to chase Korbin from OMG Magazine down too about a piece.

No rest for the wicked...

Wow, this has been a busy week but the weekend is looking monumentally mad. My 'Underground Resistance' build has been approved by Pontiac, so I'm now up to my neck in prims over on the site and work is progressing nicely. I've only been on it for a few hours and already theres a solid, good looking structure there. Pics will be posted :D

Friday has me involved with some very competitive events, as does Saturday, plus on Saturday night (technically Sunday morning), I'll be DJing at the Eden Revue Fetish Club, probably for about 3 hours, from 5pm. I DJed at Parkade tonight (usual slot) AND I'm doing an ambient chill-out set on Sunday afternoon too...

Couple all of this to me finishing 2 Pontiac Solstice GXPs for Callie and it's been a mad one.

Oh, Sadie and I did some landscaping and building on our new Paradise project too!

I need a rest!!!

It's all about the image...

Yup, image is everything. So, I've sent the information off to my friends in San Francisco who are setting to work on building me a webpage for Parkade and BootieSL, so that should be online soon. It's nice to be able to promote each other, them promoting us in their world and Parkade promoting the Bootie brand in the virtual domain.

Plus, I've undergone a radical image reworking too. Hair, skin, makeup, ink all changed! Pink is still a prevalent colour, as is black for the clothing, but I'm now a blonde!
The dark, gothic makeup has been wiped clean and has been replaced with lighter, fresher tones and I already feel better for it. We'll just have to see if blondes really DO have more fun ;)

Going into 'Overdrive'

I need my head checking. Honestly, I really do!!!

Firstly, I'm DJing tonight at Parkade, 4-6pm PDT and will be mixing a live set of breaks & drum n' bass. Should be a giggle. I've got a few new tunes to play :)

Secondly, it looks as if the original proposal has fallen flat, it's sort of going political and I'm backing away slowly, but I've submitted plans for something else and I may well be working on another build with a friend too, so I'll be busy busy busy!

I still have to find time for other personal activities, build cars, make jewelry and Sadie & I still have to work on the other land together, but thats earmarked for this weekend. I've also got to sort out some PR stuff to promote Parkade online elsewhere too. It never stops.

It's manic, but I love it :D

Construction Time Again?

Well, I must be mad because I've submitted another proposal to the Motorati peopleto renovate and rejuvenate another area on Motorati Island. Wish me luck!!

Other projects are going well. Work on Callie's Solstice GXP has begun, the Scion xBeast is nearly complete and I've just built a scooter which will be finished soon, very high prim detail and should be on sale in Knotty's shop within a month. I'll stick piccies up soon.

Then, after that I'll be starting the VeeDub, thats if my proposal isn't accepted. If it is, then it's all hands on deck to pull another storming build out of the bag.

It's alive!

Hiya, welcome to my blog! This is a day to maybe a few days time account of what I'm up to in the sims and roundabouts of SecondLife.

I'm happily married in SL to my beautiful wife Sadie and we live on an idyllic 16,000sq m beach property, with another parcel in development as a tropical getaway.

I'm multitalented within SL, with DJing, project & car building, racing, consultancy, design and club management being just a few things I manage to cram into my life. Don't ask how I do it, but I do and I also find time to relax with Sadie and chill out too, which is vitally important.

I guess I'll really be using this blog as a record of my activities, what I get up to, what I'm planning on getting up to and what mischief I am causing :D

I'm pretty busy right now, what with starting a new build project with Sadie (and teaching her terrain terraforming and building), creating several new car projects (Scion xBeast, NHRA Funny Car, VW Combi) as well as undertaking several paint jobs on alternate livery cars in my Fairgrounds Speedway garage (Full Parkade livery) and a couple of custom Pontiac Solstice GXP models for Callie Cline and Parkade. On top of all that, I'm also co-running the new, rebuilt Parkade club on Pontiac's Motorati Island and coordinating with the organisers of Bootie, to co-promote events in SL at Parkade. Finally, theres the jewelry design that needs to be done, which will include some specialist pieces for sale, some Motorati inspired pieces for the Motorati Girlz and a personal piece for Sadie :D

So, not too much then ;) I'm sure I'm missing something!
